District 4 operates the Big League Baseball program as an extension of the local leagues. The boundary of the program is the combined boundaries of the leagues in the district. West Point Little League, a league within District 4, also operates a Big League Baseball program as the district may not draw players from within the West Point Little League boundary.
Playing age is determined by a player's age on April 30 of the current year. Players may be 15 - 18 years of age on April 30, 2016, to participate. Most games and practices are held at either the Peachtree City Athletic Complex or Braelinn Fields.
Registration is online through this website only. Players may request specific coaches and we will do our best to grant those requests.
The 2016 fall season will begin in late September, probably September 24. The season will be 10 games, mostly weekend doubleheaders and we will play until those games are complete.
What is Big League Baseball?
Big League Baseball is a division of play within the Little League International program for boys and girls ages 15-18, using a conventional 90-foot diamond with a pitching distance of 60 feet, 6 inches.
The local league has an option to choose a Tournament Team (or "All Stars") of 15-18-year-olds from within this division and the team may enter the International Tournament. The International Tournament consists of the District Tournament, the State Tournament, the Regional Tournament and the World Series. The team which wins each level of play has the opportunity to advance to the next level of play.
The culmination of the International Tournament is the Big League Baseball World Series, featuring teams from around the world. All expenses for the teams advancing to the World Series (travel, meals and housing) are paid by Little League International.
Parents are strongly encouraged to become involved in this teenage division of Little League. After completing a Little League volunteer application and passing a required national background check, parents may become involved in practices, and be eligible as coaches, managers, umpires, local league board members and other volunteer positions within the league.
