Little League World Series Alum Chris Drury Named Captain of NHL’s New York Rangers

WILLAMSPORT, Pa. -

Chris Drury, who pitched his Trumbull, Conn., team to victory in the 1989 Little League Baseball World Series against Chinese Taipei, has been named the captain of the National Hockey League’s New York Rangers.

The 32-year-old is beginning his 10th NHL season and his second with the Rangers. Last season, he scored 25 goals and had 33 assists. Mr. Drury also was a member of the United States hockey team at the 2002 and 2006 Winter Olympic Games.

Mr. Drury was a co-captain along with Daniel Briere while the two were with the Buffalo Sabres, was captain of his Boston University team, and captain of his high school hockey team.

In 1998, Mr. Drury earned the Hobey Baker Award as the top college hockey player with Boston University. He was the NHL rookie of the year in 1998-99 after scoring 20 goals and 24 assists in 79 games with the Colorado Avalanche.
